Andrew Hedges is an experienced musician and composer, having studied music, and particularly the piano from an early age.
He studied Music Composition at Coventry University and graduated in 2003. During a year out before university, Andrew stayed in Los Angeles for six months. Whilst gaining experience of performing and composing, he became involved with several artistic projects, including working with the composer and music team on an independent feature film, as the resident pianist with the ‘Write Act’ repertory company, in Hollywood, and as production assistant in a West Hollywood recording studio.
Andrew has played piano, keyboards, as well as played guitar in many ensembles, including both Beatles and Pink Floyd tribute bands, in an original funk band. He has also sung in numerous choirs and vocal groups (including the Chichester Singers and the Coventry and Portsmouth Cathedral choirs). He currently plays in a jazz guitar duo called Note To Self. He is also resident Musical Director for a south coast amateur musical theatre company. Andrew also plays in a Jazz and Cabaret function band called DIVA.
He has written many jazz and pop songs, (most notably winning 1st place in the Billboard International Songcontest for his song – If You Knew) as well as numerous instrumental and classical works, including pieces for full orchestra, string quartet, SATB choir and various mixed ensembles.
Throughout University, and in the years since, he has gained great experience of playing jazz piano, increasing his repertoire massively, by working as a pianist in Hotels and Restaurants in Croydon, Southampton and Brighton, which he continues to do, as well as playing in his other ensembles.
He is available to play for weddings, solo or within any of his groups, and can be commissioned to compose a piece of music for any event, by arrangement.
He is a member of SPNM, BACS and MU.
