Andrew Hedges is a professional musician and composer.
As a solo pianist, guitarist or accordionist, Andrew Hedges is available to play for weddings, and can also be commissioned to compose a piece of music for any event, by arrangement. Apart from his solo performances, he currently plays piano, keyboards and guitar, and sings in several party, jazz and tribute groups including being found manning both keyboards and guitar, as well as sharing lead and backing vocals in The Lonely Hearts Club Band, a great Beatles Experience act - please see www.happy-with-that.co.uk for more info on all the acts that Andrew performs in.
He studied Music Composition at Coventry University and graduated in 2003. During a year out before university, Andrew lived in Los Angeles for six months. Whilst gaining experience of performing and composing, he became involved with several artistic projects, including working with the composer and music team on an independent feature film, as the resident pianist with the ‘Write Act’ repertory company, in Hollywood, and as production assistant in a West Hollywood recording studio.
In the past Andrew has played piano, keyboards and guitar in hundreds of ensembles, including numerous tribute bands, jazz bands, and in an original funk band. He has also sung in several choirs and vocal groups (including the Chichester Singers, CUPAVOX Pop Choir and the Coventry and Portsmouth Cathedral Choirs). He was resident Musical Director for a south coast amateur musical theatre company for three seasons.
He has written many jazz and pop songs, (most notably winning 1st place in the Billboard International Songcontest for his song – If You Knew) as well as numerous instrumental and classical works, including pieces for full orchestra, string quartet, guitar, SATB choir and various mixed ensembles. He has also written for film and telvision.
Andrew is an experienced musician and composer, having studied music, and particularly the composition and the piano from an early age. He juggles his performing work with teaching piano, guitar and composition lessons, and is also a musical and choir director.
When he's not performing, teaching or directing music, he runs his own music agency from his home in Kent, where he lives with his wife and son. His agency represents numerous acts, including the ones he also plays in himself, and arranges music lessons, sessions players and some deputies for recording and performing.
